Just a bridge span from Old Town, on the left bank of the Daugava, looms an extraordinary, culturally significant edifice, the Castle of Light - the new National Library. The basic objective of the new structure is to accrue and preserve national and international literary works, securing access to them for the general public. Over four million units are now located here, mostly Latvian publications concerning Latvia and Latvians.

The Hermitage was founded in the heart of St. Petersburg in 1764 and is one of the most important museums in the world, being listed on the list of the 20 most popular museums in the world. The museum has nearly three million exhibits since the Stone Age until now. Paintings from many world-famous artists such as da Vinci, Monet, Picasso, Renoir, Rembrandt, Rubens, van Gogh and others are featured in the specialty.

Suomenlinna is a maritime fortress built in 1748, near the islands of Helsinki, which features an interesting whole in Swedish buildings, the Russian era and the Finnish era. Obelisk "Hero City" is a 45-meter high monument, which was opened in 1985 when the 40th anniversary of the victory of the Great Patriotic War was reminiscent of. In the upper part there are stars and laurel chapels depicted. The woman's bronze sculpture on an obelisk on a low pedestal has a symbol of homeland, victory and glory. The monument is part of the large complex of the Belarusian Great Patriotic War museum.
