The biggest operator of international express coach routes in the Baltic region Lux Express in 2012 continued its growth carrying 76 thousand or 14% passengers more than in 2011. In total the company expects to carry 650 thousand passengers in 2012. The most significant increase was experienced on routes Tallinn - Vilnius, where the amount of passengers increased by 42%, Riga – Vilnius – increase by 24%, as well as Riga - Saint Petersburg – increase by 21 %.

“For the company this year was successful – we were able to increase the amount of passengers and incomes. We have launched the route Vilnius - Warsaw - Berlin offering new Simple Express couches with comfortable seats, Funtoro media system, as well as 220 V plugs and wifi,” explains Chairman of the Board of Lux Express Hannes Saarpuu.

The long Christmas and New Year holidays also have positively affected company’s financial results. Financial data of Lux Express shows that the amount of passengers who plan their holidays in advance booking their tickets already now has increased by 10%.

During this year the company has invested more than 3 million EUR in order to purchase new coaches. “Starting from July on our routes new Lux Express Lounge coaches are operating.  There are fewer seats in the new coaches expanding the comfort zone for passengers. Despite the reduction in the number of seats the ticket price has not changed significantly. Moreover, in the last three months incomes have increased by 6% comparing to the last year. It shows that travellers highly appreciate the conveniences offered by the new Lux Express coaches,” notes H. Saarpuu.

Financial data of the company shows that passengers are interested in purchasing full trip packages. Starting from September this year Lux Express Group offers each client in Russia a special travelling service to Latvia and Estonia – a possibility to buy a full trip package quickly and with significant discounts via the internet (travel.luxexpress.eu). In 2013 the company is planning to sell approximately 6000 packages offering citizens of Saint Petersburg similar travel packages also to Finland.

“In the last few years Lux Express has significantly developed expanding the route network in several countries. In order to become the passenger transportation market leader in the upcoming years we will focus on routes and services that we are already offering to our clients,” adds H. Saarpuu.
