Lux Express launches summer direct route between Haapsalu and Tallinn Port D Terminal

21.05.2026

Starting from June 1 until August 31, Lux Express will add a direct connection between Haapsalu and the D-terminal at Tallinn Passenger Port D Terminal to its route network. During the summer months, passengers from Kärdla will also be able to reach the D-terminal with Lux Express, offering more convenient connections from both Läänemaa and Hiiumaa.

During the summer season, one round trip will operate daily according to the following schedule:

  • 10:05 Haapsalu – 12:05 Tallinn Passenger Port D-terminal

  • 13:00 Tallinn Passenger Port D-terminal – 15:10 Haapsalu

The new route allows passengers to travel comfortably between Haapsalu and Tallinn Passenger Port without transfers. The D-terminal stop is located directly in front of the terminal at the tourist bus platform and is also easily accessible from the nearby A-terminal via the pedestrian bridge.

“Last summer, Lux Express began stopping at the D-terminal on selected Tallinn–Pärnu routes, which quickly generated interest in connecting other popular holiday destinations with Tallinn Passenger Port. With the support of Visit Estonia, several hotels in Haapsalu approached us with the idea of extending Haapsalu routes to Tallinn Passenger Port to make travel to Haapsalu as easy as possible for passengers arriving from across the Gulf of Finland,” said Ingmar Roos, CEO of Lux Express Group.

“During the summer months, Finnish travelers account for around 10% of all passengers on popular holiday routes from Tallinn to Pärnu, Haapsalu, and Kuressaare. For example, last summer, Finns made up as much as one third of passengers on Pärnu–Tallinn services heading to the Passenger Port. Adding the Passenger Port stop to the Lux Express route network also gives residents of different Tallinn districts an additional opportunity to start or end their journey closer to home. In Tallinn, Lux Express buses already stop at the Airport and Mõigu on southern routes, at Mustakivi on eastern routes, and at Virve and Vana-Pääsküla on western routes. The addition of the Passenger Port stop creates another convenient travel option for residents of Northern Tallinn as well.”

The new direct connection is also very welcome news for spa guests and staff. “It provides holidaymakers arriving from Finland with a sustainable and convenient way to travel directly from Tallinn Port to Haapsalu without transfers — straight to the sea, pine forests, and wellness,” said Maret Sukles, representative of Fra Mare Thalasso Spa.

The bus from Kärdla to Tallinn Passenger Port D Terminal departs daily at 7:30. On the return journey, the bus leaves the D-terminal every day at 13:00 and arrives at Rohuküla Port at 15:30, allowing passengers to continue their journey towards Hiiumaa.

The addition of the Tallinn Passenger Port D-terminal stop to the Haapsalu and Kärdla routes is part of Lux Express’ broader goal of offering passengers the most convenient connections to Estonia’s key transport hubs. Since last year, Lux Express’ Pärnu and Riga routes have also stopped at the D-terminal, making travel between the port, Tallinn, Pärnu, and Riga simpler and more convenient than before.

Tickets can be purchased online via luxexpress.eu or tpilet.ee, as well as directly from the bus driver if needed.

Lux Express operates these routes with comfortable Scania Irizar buses. All buses are equipped with Wi-Fi and personal media screens. Passengers can also enjoy onboard amenities such as a toilet, air conditioning, and power outlets for charging devices. Ticket sales use dynamic pricing, meaning earlier bookings benefit from lower fares. Seniors aged 60 and over, as well as children up to 16 years old, can receive up to 40% discounts on domestic Estonian routes, while young people up to 26 years old are eligible for discounts of up to 26%.
