Lux Express submitted an application to the Road Transport Directorate (ATD) on Tuesday, April 16, to include the route Riga Center–Riga International Airport in the list of commercial regional routes and to issue a permit to "Lux Express Latvia" for this route.
"The opening of a new bus route is another significant step towards making travel to and from Riga Airport more convenient for passengers. We started improving this area by relocating the bus stop and regulating taxi fares," emphasized Ģirts Dubkēvičs, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Transport.
"Lux Express is the most recognizable passenger carrier in the Baltics, offering its customers the highest level of comfort and service. By collaborating with Riga International Airport, the company has identified the need for higher quality service for airport visitors. Although the aviation industry is successfully recovering from the Covid-19 crisis and Riga Airport is experiencing an increase in passenger numbers, tourists still face difficulties in getting to and from the airport," says Aldis Ķibēns, Director of Baltic Business Development at Lux Express.
In order to appropriately serve visitors to Riga and local travelers, "Lux Express Latvia" has created a service that will complement existing transportation connections and significantly improve traffic between Riga Airport and the city center. Considering that the final stop for the route will be at Riga International Bus Station, the connection between the airport and international bus routes will also be improved, making it easier for Baltic residents to reach Riga Airport.
"The goal of the service is to provide passengers with high-comfort bus transport and reduce travel time. Although tickets on Lux Express buses will be more expensive than on “Rīgas Satiksme” buses, they will be at a fixed price and considerably cheaper than using a taxi. Lux Express service for airport visitors will provide convenient, fast, and reliable transportation for both private and business trips," says the Director of Baltic Business Development at Lux Express.
