Lux Express has increased the number of daily trips on the Riga–Liepaja route

The largest bus transportation company in the Baltic region, Lux Express, has increased the number of trips on the Riga–Liepaja route to 11 trips per day in each direction due to high demand, the company reported.

“We are pleased that our services are highly valued by passengers and that additional trips are needed to meet travelers’ needs. When we launched the Riga–Liepaja commercial route, we estimated there would be demand and that this route would be successful, but the current demand has already exceeded our previous expectations,” acknowledged Aldis Ķibēns, a board member of Lux Express Latvia.

Furthermore, Lux Express has recently switched to the summer season schedule, making changes to departure times on the Riga–Liepaja route. “Based on our observations and passenger feedback, and considering that tickets can be purchased on our website up to 90 days in advance, we encourage passengers to purchase bus tickets early for dates when major summer events will take place at their destinations,” emphasizes A. Ķibēns.

The company reported that buses on the new departures from Liepaja to Riga now depart daily at 10:00, and from Riga to Liepaja at 17:00.

Lux Express trips on the Riga–Liepaja route at 10:00 and from Liepaja to Riga at 14:45 will be available every day in the summer schedule until August 31. There are also changes for the trips from Liepaja to Riga at 08:00 and from Riga to Liepaja at 17:40, which previously were express trips but now stop at all stations. Meanwhile, the trips from Liepaja to Riga at 09:00 and from Riga to Liepaja at 17:00 are now express trips that do not stop in Brocēni, Saldus, and Skrunda.

Lux Express also continues to offer the longest bus route in Latvia, Liepaja–Riga–Daugavpils, with daily departures from Liepaja bus station at 06:00.

It was previously reported that in February, Lux Express installed Latvia’s first long-distance bus ticket machines at the Riga and Liepaja bus stations. The introduction of ticket machines in Latvia, especially in Liepaja, was a very important step for further development, considering the rapid growth of the Liepaja–Riga route, the huge passenger demand, and the fact that Lux Express did not have its own ticket office at the Liepaja bus station.

By introducing these self-service ticket machines, ticket purchase has become more convenient and faster for passengers. Moreover, the new ticket vending machines offer cheaper ticket prices compared to purchasing tickets from the bus station cashier.
The ticket machines include all Lux Express discounts, including for seniors, youth, and other eligible groups. Payments can be made using credit and debit cards, as well as Apple Pay and Google Pay.

All trips on the Riga–Liepaja and Liepaja–Daugavpils routes are operated by “Irizar i6s Efficient” buses manufactured in 2023, which offer one of the highest levels of comfort in the industry. In addition, all buses are equipped with toilets, Wi-Fi, media screens with Latvian-language content, and free hot drinks.
