Increasing the number of departures on the Riga - Liepaja route

Lux Express will expand its number of passenger transport services on the regional route Liepaja–Riga–Daugavpils from October 22nd. 

"From the beginning of May, when we started passenger transport services on the regional route Liepāja–Rīga–Daugavpils, has only further convinced us that Latvian residents are 'thirsty' for increased service quality and greater comfort when using passenger transport services," says Aldis Ķibēns, a member of the board of Lux Express Latvia. 

He adds, "The current demand has given us the confidence to increase the number of departures, including the introduction of a new type of service—express trips on the Liepāja–Rīga route."

Instead of the current single trip, an additional trip will be introduced on Latvia's longest bus route from Liepāja to Daugavpils and back, departing from Liepāja at 16:00 on October 22. On October 23, the bus from Daugavpils to Liepāja will depart at 9:15. 

Additional buses from Liepāja to Rīga will run daily at 9:00, and from Rīga to Liepāja at 15:00. Also, new trips will be introduced on Fridays and Sundays from Liepāja to Rīga at 14:45, and from Rīga to Liepāja at 10:00. 

Considering the additional trips introduced, the departure times of existing trips will also change—from Liepāja to Rīga, the trip that previously departed at 8:30 will now leave at 8:00, while the trip from Rīga to Liepāja that departed at 14:30 will now leave at 14:00.

Evaluating customer demand, Lux Express trips from Liepāja to Rīga departing at 8:00, and from Rīga to Liepāja at 17:40, will become express trips from October 22nd, which will not stop in Broceni, Saldus, and Skrunda. 

"We are pleased that passengers appreciate changes in the market offering, and this only strengthens our firm belief that Latvia should actively open new routes for commercial passenger transport to develop the industry and promote competition in the market. Ultimately, the beneficiaries will not only be passengers but also the state budget," emphasizes the board member of Lux Express Latvia.

This increase in the number of trips will also provide additional opportunities for the city of Liepāja and its visitors, considering the recently signed cooperation agreement between the foundation "Liepāja 2027" and Lux Express, to promote and support the successful implementation of the cultural activities of the "Liepāja 2027" program, increase visitor mobility, and facilitate the successful implementation of the European Capital of Culture 2027 project.

All trips on the routes Rīga–Liepāja and Liepāja–Daugavpils are operated with Irizar i6s Efficient buses manufactured in 2023, which offer one of the highest comfort levels in the industry.
