Increasing departures on the route Riga–Liepāja

Due to high demand Lux Express will increase the number of departures on the Riga–Liepāja route starting from November 3, the company has announced.

“We are delighted to see that more and more people choose our services to travel between Riga and Liepāja and truly appreciate the quality of our service. As a result, demand for this route often exceeds supply during the most popular departure times. Therefore, we have responded by adding additional departures to and from Liepāja,” says Aldis Ķibēns, Member of the Board of Lux Express Latvia.

From now on, the Riga–Liepāja departure at 10:00 will run four times a week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), instead of the previous two days (Friday and Sunday). Likewise, the Liepāja–Riga departure at 14:45 will also operate four times a week (Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), instead of the previous two days (Friday and Sunday).

In addition, a new late departure from Riga to Liepāja at 21:00 will be introduced twice a week (Friday and Sunday). This will allow passengers from Liepāja to spend the day in the capital—whether for work, attending a concert, or visiting friends—and return comfortably to Liepāja in the evening without the need to stay overnight in Riga.

To make it easier for passengers to arrive in Riga just before the start of the workday, a new early morning departure from Liepāja to Riga at 05:00 (04:37 from the Mirdzas Ķempes Street stop) will also be introduced, operating on Mondays and Saturdays, the company said.

Lux Express buses will operate up to 12 round trips per day between Liepāja and Riga with the following departure times:
From Liepāja to Riga – 05:00 (Mondays, Saturdays), 06:00, 07:00, 08:00, 09:00, 10:00, 11:45, 13:30, 14:45 (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays), 16:00, 17:30, 19:00.
From Riga to Liepāja – 07:00, 09:00, 10:00 (Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays), 11:30, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 17:40, 19:00, 21:00 (Fridays, Sundays).

In contrast, starting from November 3, the number of departures on the Daugavpils route will be reduced. From Monday to Thursday, the following departures will be discontinued: Riga–Daugavpils at 09:30 and Daugavpils–Riga at 15:35. A new daily departure Riga–Daugavpils via Jēkabpils at 13:40 will be introduced, replacing the previous 18:30 departure.

Lux Express Latvia will continue to operate the Daugavpils route with one daily departure each way from Monday to Thursday and two daily departures each way from Friday to Sunday, the company said.
