On May 2nd Lux Express, commenced commercial passenger transportation on the regional route between Riga and Liepaja. From, May 3rd, transportation will begin on the route from Liepaja to Riga to Daugavpils.

I am pleased that we have managed to fulfill the desire of Daugavpils residents for a convenient bus service to the capital. Such commercial routes provide both enhanced service quality and greater convenience for passengers, thereby promoting a shift in habits and an increase in passenger numbers in the public transport system overall, and also save budget funds, as they are not subject to state subsidies," stated the Transport Minister, Kaspars Briškens.

Buses from Liepaja to Riga will operate 8 times a day, both ways, with departure times at 6:00, 7:00, 8:30, 11:30, 13:30, 16:00, 17:30, 19:00 (additional departures on Fridays and Sundays). From Riga to Liepaja, buses will leave at 7:00, 9:00, 11:00, 13:00, 14:30 (additional departures on Fridays and Sundays), 16:00, 17:40, 19:00.

Starting from May 3rd, there will be one daily trip from Liepaja to Daugavpils and back, departing from Liepaja at 7:00, stopping in Riga, and continuing at 10:30. Conversely, from Daugavpils to Liepaja, the bus will depart at 15:25 and reach Liepaja at 22:20.

All trips on the routes Riga-Liepaja and Liepaja-Daugavpils will be operated with "Irizar i6s Efficient" buses manufactured in 2023, which offer one of the highest levels of comfort in the industry. These buses are nearly 15% more economical than the previous most modern and economical"Lux Express buses. They have 30% less air resistance and at least 13% less emissions and fuel consumption. Moreover, all buses will have onboard toilets, Wi-Fi, media screens with content in Latvian, and free hot drinks.
