On February 1, 2024 the Ivangorod border crossing will be closed

From February 1 next year, Russia will stop road traffic with Estonia through the Ivangorod border crossing, which will be closed to vehicles during reconstruction. Pedestrians are not affected by Russian Prime Minister Mihhail Mišustin's order.

Lux Express Estonian business manager Ingmar Roos said that Lux Express has continued Russian cross-border transport for the past year and a half in order to offer minimal transport connections to people with family ties on both sides of the border and to persons visiting Russia due to pressing need. "If the Narva-Ivangorod border crossing is closed, we plan to continue to ensure minimum connection options in a way where passengers have to cross the border on foot and continue their journey on the other side of the border with the bus waiting there," added Roos.

Roos clarified that the number of passengers is expected to decrease in the case of such a solution, which is why he considers it likely that starting from February, instead of serving today's 6 daily departures, a smaller number of trips will be served: "As for the exact transport volumes and ticket prices after the border crossing is closed, we will provide more detailed information, if there is more information from both the Estonian and Russian sides about the closing of the border crossing, the movement of pedestrians and its effects."

The Narva-Ivangorod border crossing is currently used by both Tallinn-Petersburg and Riga-Petersburg buses.
