Lux Express buses are operating on Finnish routes starting today
Lux Express has franchised its comfortable bus service to Finland's market leader OnniBus. As a result, Premium-class buses already familiar in Estonia will begin serving passengers on two long-distance routes in Finland starting today.
The buses branded Lux Express by OnniBus will initially operate on two intercity routes: Helsinki–Turku and Helsinki–Jyväskylä. On both routes, the buses will make a total of 70 departures per week. In August, two more cities will be added to the network: Helsinki–Tampere and Helsinki–Kotka.
The decision by Finland’s leading bus company OnniBus to purchase the service concept franchise from the Estonian company is a historic move in the context of both countries' mobility markets. Thanks to this collaboration, long-distance routes in Finland will for the first time feature top-class comfort buses, which have not been used in the country until now.

“This is more than just a franchise deal for us – it’s recognition of the entire Estonian public transport and service culture,” said Ingmar Roos, Member of the Board of Lux Express. “When the market leader in Finland adopts an Estonian concept, it shows that we’re not falling behind in any way. On the contrary, we’re creating something in Estonia that others want to follow. This recognition gives us the confidence to pursue a bold goal – to expand into the Scandinavian market through similar partnerships.”
OnniBus aims to grow the number of bus passengers in Finland using the Lux Express service concept, particularly attracting people who currently travel between cities by car or train. “Years of experience in Estonia and the Baltic region show that a comfortable, safe, and cost-effective bus is a reliable alternative to private car travel,” Roos added. “These experiences give us confidence that we can compete with private cars not only in Finland but elsewhere in Scandinavia as well.”
OnniBus operates the most extensive network of long-distance bus routes in Finland, providing more than 3 million journeys annually.
