Lux Express to Increase Summer Departures on Baltic Routes
In response to growing passenger demand, Baltic coach operator Lux Express has announced an expansion of its international summer schedule, increasing frequencies on key routes connecting Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, and Poland.
Starting May 29, 2026, Lux Express will increase its seasonal departures connecting Riga, Liepāja, and Klaipėda to three daily departures in each direction. The seasonal route, which originally resumed in early April, aims to accommodate increased summer travel for leisure, business, and tourism across the Baltic coastal cities. Local tourism officials in Liepāja noted that the high-comfort connection helps fill a historical gap in regular, large-scale passenger transport between the neighboring countries. These departures particularly support the growing trend of cycling tourists who utilize the buses' capacity to safely transport bicycles.
The updated daily schedule from Riga to Klaipėda features departures at 07:00, 11:30, and 16:00. From Liepāja, buses will head toward Klaipėda at 10:30, 15:00, and 19:30. In the opposite direction, departures from Klaipėda toward Liepāja and Riga will leave every day at 08:10, 12:55, and 17:10. In Lithuania, the buses will also stop at the Palanga bus station and near the Palanga Airport.
Beginning June 4, 2026, Lux Express will further expand its summer schedule with additional daily frequencies across the region. For the Riga–Tallinn route, additional daily departures will leave Riga at 08:00 and 11:50. New daily Vilnius–Riga departures will leave Vilnius at 10:20, which increases the total number of daily departures between the two capitals from six to seven. Conversely, new daily Riga–Vilnius departures will leave Riga at 10:40. For travellers heading toward Poland, new daily Kaunas–Warsaw departures will leave Kaunas at 02:30. In addition, Lux Express will launch a new daily Riga-Kaunas-Warsaw overnight service departing at 22:40 and arriving in Warsaw at 07:00, offering a fast connection to the Polish capital via Kaunas, bypassing Vilnius, with a journey time of just over 9 hours.
The international routes are operated using Scania Irizar coaches equipped with Wi-Fi, personal multimedia screens, power outlets, climate control, an onboard toilet, and complimentary water and hot beverages.
Tickets for the summer season are available on the Lux Express website and mobile application. Lux Express utilizes dynamic pricing, meaning fares are generally lower when purchased further in advance. Standard discounts continue to apply for specific passenger demographics, offering approximately 60% off for children under 7, 40% off for children under 16, 26% off for youth under 26, and 10% off for seniors aged 60 and over. More information regarding these specific discounts can be found here.
