Lux Express will resume passenger transportation on the Riga–Klaipeda route

The largest bus transport company in the Baltic region, Lux Express, will resume seasonal passenger services on the Riga–Klaipeda route starting April 2. Ticket sales will begin on March 20.

“Last year proved that our decision to introduce the Riga–Liepaja–Palanga–Klaipeda route was the right one, as it became a real ‘magnet’ for tourists from Latvia, Lithuania, and international travelers alike. Even after the end of the season, we regularly received questions from people asking when this route would finally be restored again,” says Aldis Ķibēns, Member of the Board of Lux Express Latvia.

“This route has proven to be a convenient option for travelers wishing to visit the Latvian seaside. It was actively used not only by Lithuanians but also by Latvians and international tourists traveling to Klaipėda or Palanga, which also contributes to the growth of tourism in the region,” says A. Kibens.

For travelers from Latvia and Estonia, the route provides convenient access to Klaipeda and Palanga. Klaipeda is an important Baltic Sea port and cultural center, featuring a lively old town and a promenade along the harbor. Meanwhile, Palanga is one of the most popular seaside resorts in Lithuania, attracting visitors during the summer season with its wide beaches, events, and vibrant resort-town atmosphere. This route allows travelers from Lithuania to discover Liepāja and Latvia’s coastline — including its beaches, urban environment, and events. Many people use this route as a convenient weekend seaside getaway.

The route will resume in April — initially, buses will run on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays. An additional trip at the start of the season is scheduled for April 2. From May, buses will also operate on weekdays, and from June until September 30, they will run up to three times a day.

The journey from Riga to Klaipeda (and in the opposite direction) will take 5 hours and 10 minutes. Meanwhile, the trip from Liepaja to Klaipeda (and back) will take approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

At the beginning of the season in April, passengers will be able to take advantage of promotional prices. A ticket for the Riga–Klaipeda route will cost €11, while tickets for Liepaja–Klaipeda will cost €6.

On international Lux Express routes, discounts are available for several passenger groups — approximately 60% for children up to 7 years old, around 40% for children up to 16, about 26% for young people up to 26, and around 10% for seniors aged 60 and over.

Tickets can be purchased on luxexpress.eu as well as in the Lux Express mobile app.
