Lux Express increases the number of stops on the Riga–Daugavpils route
The largest bus transport company in the Baltic region, Lux Express, continues to improve passenger transport on the Riga–Daugavpils route by introducing two new stops in Daugavpils — on Ormaņu Street and Valkas Street. The new stops will be available to passengers from June 16.
The decision to introduce the new stops was made following regular passenger surveys and customer feedback. The results of the surveys clearly showed passengers’ desire to get closer to their places of residence and destinations, reducing the need to use additional transport or make transfers within the city.
“Since the launch of the Riga–Daugavpils route, we have been regularly listening to passenger suggestions and evaluating opportunities to improve the service. The need for more convenient access to different neighbourhoods of Daugavpils was one of the most frequently mentioned recommendations in our surveys. Therefore, from June 16 we will introduce two new stops — on Ormaņu Street and Valkas Street. This is a logical step to make the service more accessible and convenient for people who use these routes daily or regularly,” says Aldis Ķibēns, board member of Lux Express Latvia.
According to the company’s observations, the Riga–Daugavpils route has experienced steady growth in passenger demand in recent months. At the same time, not only the duration of the journey is becoming increasingly important, but also how conveniently a passenger can reach their desired destination within the city.
“The creation of new stops in the Jaunbūve and Jaunā Forštate neighborhoods is a good example of how public transport services adapt to the needs of residents. They will allow some passengers to get closer to their homes or destinations without additional transfers, making travel within the city more convenient and accessible,” says Līga Rudzīte-Besakirska, head of the Tourism Department of the Daugavpils city municipality.
It is also planned to continue regularly evaluating passenger suggestions and opportunities to improve routes in order to provide the most convenient possible public transport service, says a board member of Lux Express Latvia.
It was previously reported that Lux Express resumed daily departures to Daugavpils at the end of May. On the Riga–Daugavpils route, buses now run twice a day every day — the Riga–Aknīste–Daugavpils departures at 09:30 and the Daugavpils–Aknīste–Riga departures at 15:35 also operate from Monday to Thursday. From Daugavpils to Riga, Lux Express offers departures every day at 09:15 and 15:35, while from Riga to Daugavpils departures are at 09:30 and 13:40.
