Ingmar Roos, Business Manager of Lux Express Estonia: “The results of April confirmed that our decision made in March was the right one, where we decided not go along with the rapid rise in fuel prices and did not increase the ticket prices. This has helped to get passengers back on our buses as the corona crisis recedes. Therefore, April this year was successful for Lux Express in both domestic and international route services. On domestic routes, we approached the result of July last year with the number of passengers and ended April for the first time since last year's high season with profitable results  ”

Of particular importance for Lux Express is the growth of international routes, where compared to April last year, there were almost 5 times more departures and 15 times more passengers. The slump during the coronary crisis is illustrated by the fact that, despite a 15-fold increase in passenger numbers, the number of passengers on routes between Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland was still more than two times lower as in the year before the pandemic.

“For Lux Express one of the goals for the near future is to ensure sufficient capacity on both domestic and international routes so that all passengers can travel comfortably during the demand peak of summer season when it is important and necessary for them, and not the other way around. Despite the rapid growth of fuel prices, we have also set a goal to increase the salary level of our bus drivers,” added Roos.

In response to the passengers' demands, Lux Express will continue to offer a free bicycle ticket on all its routes throughout the Baltic region and in Poland this spring and summer. The bicycle service proved to be very popular last year and has stimulated tourism between the capitals. The bus can fit up to four bicycles and the passengers can bring their bicycles with them free of charge. A bicycle ticket can be booked together with a regular ticket on the Lux Express website luxexpress.eu. Each bus has bicycle covers to protect both the bike and other luggage.
