Lux Express increases trips to Klaipeda and Liepaja
The largest coach operator in the Baltic region, Lux Express, will increase the number of passenger services between Riga, Klaipėda and Liepāja starting April 30, responding to growing demand.
From April 30, departures on the Riga–Klaipėda route will be expanded, with buses running daily throughout May. From Monday to Saturday, buses will depart from Riga to Klaipėda at 07:00, with an additional departure from Liepāja at 10:30. On Sundays, departures from Riga will be at 11:30 and from Liepāja at 15:00.
Return departures from Klaipėda will operate Monday to Saturday at 12:55, and on Sundays at 17:10.
In parallel, Lux Express will also increase frequencies on the Riga–Liepāja route. Departures from Riga at 10:00 and from Liepāja at 14:45, which previously operated four days per week, will now run daily.
“We are clearly seeing growing demand for this route from both Latvian and Lithuanian travellers. While we relaunched it as a seasonal connection in April, by May we are transitioning to daily services, significantly improving accessibility,” said Aldis Ķibēns, Member of the Management Board of Lux Express Latvia.
He added that the route is gradually becoming a stable transport link along the Baltic coast, serving both leisure travellers and providing convenient access to Riga Airport. The company is monitoring passenger demand and plans to introduce even more frequent services during the summer season.
Lux Express resumed its seasonal passenger services to Klaipėda at the beginning of April. Travel time between Riga and Klaipėda is approximately 5 hours and 10 minutes, while the journey between Liepāja and Klaipėda takes around 1 hour and 40 minutes.
Customer surveys indicate that around 65–70% of passengers use this route for leisure travel, while the remainder travel to visit relatives or for short weekend trips.
Discounts are available on international Lux Express routes for various passenger groups, including approximately 60% for children under 7, 40% for children under 16, 26% for youth under 26, and 10% for seniors aged 60 and above. Tickets can be purchased via the Lux Express website or mobile app.
Lux Express Group operates international long-distance routes connecting major Baltic cities and Warsaw, as well as domestic services in Latvia and Estonia.
