Lux Express will continue to operate Riga - Klaipeda route till 25 October

Lux Express, the largest bus transportation company in the Baltic region, will continue operating daily departures to Klaipėda after the end of the season, in response to strong passenger demand for travel to the neighbouring country.

“We initially planned the route to Klaipėda and Palanga as a seasonal offering, but passenger demand has exceeded our forecasts. We see that people are increasingly choosing public transport not only for summer holidays, but also for short autumn trips and weekend getaways. Therefore, we have decided to extend the route until 25 October, providing daily departures even after the end of the active summer season,” says Aldis Ķibēns, Member of the Management Board of Lux Express Latvia.

“In autumn, we will adjust the number of departures according to seasonal demand, and the route will operate one departure per day in each direction, meaning that passengers will continue to have access to a regular and convenient connection between Riga, Liepāja, Klaipėda and Palanga. Our many years of experience show that when passengers have access to high-quality bus services and routes, this can also encourage travel outside the traditional tourism season,” adds A. Ķibēns.

From 31 August, there will be one departure per day, every day. From Monday to Saturday, Lux Express buses will depart from Riga Coach Station at 07:00 and from Liepāja Coach Station at 10:30. On Sundays, buses will depart from Riga Coach Station at 11:30 and from Liepāja Coach Station at 15:00. From Monday to Saturday, departures from Klaipėda Coach Station will be at 12:55, while on Sundays they will depart at 17:10.

Lux Express resumed its seasonal passenger departures to Klaipėda at the beginning of April this year. The journey from Riga to Klaipėda (and in the opposite direction) takes 5 hours and 10 minutes. The journey from Liepāja to Klaipėda (and in the opposite direction) takes approximately 1 hour and 40 minutes.

On international Lux Express routes, discounts are available for several passenger groups – approximately 60% for children under 7 years of age, approximately 40% for children under 16, approximately 26% for young people under 26, and approximately 10% for seniors aged 60 and over. Tickets can be purchased on the Lux Express website at luxexpress.lv or via the mobile app.
