In partnership with Tallink, Lux Express expands its route network to Helsinki
The Baltic region's leading coach operator, Lux Express, is continuing to expand its route network. Starting today, passengers can book journeys from Helsinki to Prague through Lux Express sales channels, seamlessly combining ferry and rail travel with Europe's most comfortable long-distance coach service.
From today, travelers heading to Helsinki can combine their coach and ferry journey in a single booking. When purchasing a coach ticket on the Lux Express website, passengers can now also add a Tallink ferry ticket in the same transaction. The same convenient option is available for Finnish travelers wishing to visit Pärnu.
According to Peep Jalakas, CEO of AS Tallink Grupp, the company is pleased to be part of integrated travel solutions that make the entire journey much simpler for passengers. "Pärnu remains a very popular destination among our Finnish customers, and convenient transport connections help increase passenger numbers—benefiting both transport operators and local businesses such as accommodation providers. As the ferry operator offering the most flexible sailing schedule, Tallink is a natural part of this travel chain," Jalakas said.
Currently, selected departures to Haapsalu, Pärnu, and Riga operate from Tallinn's D-Terminal at the following times:
Haapsalu (one departure): 13:00–15:10
Pärnu (two departures): 13:30–15:50 and 19:00–21:25
Riga (two departures): 13:30–18:35 and 16:00–21:00
The D-Terminal can be reached with the following services:
Pärnu (two departures): 10:40–12:50 and 16:15–18:30
Riga (one departure): 14:00–18:45
Haapsalu (one departure): 10:05–12:05
"Finland has always been a strategically important market for us, and our partnership with Tallink is equally significant. It has lasted for more than 30 years, three decades of working together to develop tourism and make travel more convenient for passengers," said Ingmar Roos, CEO of Lux Express Group.
According to Roos, the next step is to launch services to Tartu and Narva from the D-Terminal, as well as to test longer routes such as D-Terminal–Warsaw. There are also plans to integrate most of Finland's transport network into the same journey through various technical platforms.
In the longer term, the goal is to establish additional partnerships in Finland to connect as many transport options as possible into a single seamless travel chain. This would allow Finnish passengers to buy a single ticket, even from a ticket office in a small village, and travel directly to destinations such as Vilnius, and vice versa. In practice, this means travelling to the port with one ticket, transferring from the ferry to public transport to the bus station, and boarding the next coach, all as part of one connected journey.
In the first quarter of this year, Lux Express also launched a partnership with the Czech rail operator Leo Express. As a result of this collaboration, passengers travelling on Lux Express coach services to Warsaw can now continue their journey to Prague, Kraków, and Ostrava.
