Lux Express has more than a 30% increase in passengers to and from Riga

Lux Express, reports that in the first 9 months of this year, the total number of passengers transported on routes from and to Riga is 33% higher than in the corresponding period last year, reaching almost 328 thousand passengers. The number of transported passengers has increased on all routes. The higher increase was for the Riga-Tartu route, where the number of passengers increased by 74%, reaching 25.5 thousand transported passengers.

Company representatives indicate that in the first 3 quarters of this year, the number of passengers on the Pärnu-Riga route increased by 37% to 21.6 thousand passengers, the number of people transported on the Riga-Vilnius route was 91.4 thousand passengers, an increase of 27%. On the other hand, the number of passengers on the Tallinn-Riga route was 167.9 thousand, which is 26% more compared to the corresponding period of the previous year.

According to Aldis Ķibēns, Baltic Business Development Director of Lux Express, the increase in the number of transported passengers in the 9 months of this year shows a positive trend and allows to hope for good results this year as a whole.

"We are glad to see that Latvian residents increasingly choose comfort and the opportunity to visit their nearest cross-border neighbors. We closely monitor and respond to travelers’ habits and preferences. In addition, to provide additional comfort to our passengers, this year we renewed our bus fleet - by purchasing 27 new "Scania" buses," says A. Ķibēns.

In the middle of November of this year, Lux Express submitted an application to the Directorate of Road Transport to include the routes Riga-Liepāja and Liepāja-Daugavpils in the list of commercial routes of regional importance and to issue route permits to "AS Lux Express Estonia" for them.

All trips on the routes Riga–Liepāja and Liepāja–Daugavpils will be made with the just-purchased Scania Irizar i6s buses manufactured in 2023, which offer one of the highest levels of comfort in the industry. These buses are almost 15% more economical than the previous most modern and economical buses of "Lux Express". They have 30% less air resistance and at least 13% less emissions and fuel consumption. In addition, all buses will have toilets, media screens with content also in Latvian, as well as free hot drinks, explained A. Ķibēns.
