The obligation of Covid-19 test for travel to the Republic of Latvia
In accordance with the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Latvia Regulation No. 360 “Epidemiological Safety Measures for the Containment of the Spread of COVID-19 Infection” paragraphs 35.3, 35.4 from January 15, 2021 passengers are allowed to travel to Latvia only if within 72 hours before departure it had made a Covid-19 test and the test result is negative. Carrier is allowed to take a passenger on board only if the passenger can provide one of the following proofs in English, French, German, Russian, Lithuanian or Estonian languages:
- Covid-19 test result.
- Medical certificate about recovery from Covid-19.
Exemptions from this rule are:
- Children under the age of 11.
- Seamen travelling to/from a ship (providing Seamen’s book).
- Diplomatic workers and their family members (providing a diplomatic passport or other documents).
- Exceptional cases connected with Latvian national interests, force major, exceptional conditions or humanitarian considerations (with approval of State Border Guard of Latvia).
Covidpass is necessary in all cases. Passengers should choose appropriate option – performed the test or exception. Passengers with positive Covid-19 test results are not allowed on board.
