Lux Express adds more departures on the Tartu–Viljandi–Pärnu route

Lux Express is expanding its summer timetable with more frequent connections between Tartu, Viljandi and Pärnu. From Thursday, 9 July, buses on this route will operate six times a day. Additional departures have also been added to other routes connecting popular summer destinations.

Following the discontinuation of another bus operator's services, Lux Express has decided to fill the gap by introducing two additional daily departures in each direction on the Tartu–Viljandi–Pärnu route. The company operates without government subsidies.

"We firmly believe in the future of public transport funded solely by ticket revenue. That's why we're prepared to invest in brand-new coaches and further expand our network with additional routes," said Ingmar Roos, CEO of Lux Express Group.

"With these new services, we're addressing a long-standing gap that passengers have been asking us to solve, making it possible to travel from Pärnu and Viljandi to Tartu before 10:00. We are also introducing a later evening departure from Tartu to Viljandi and Pärnu," added Ingmar Roos.

From 9 July, Lux Express buses will operate daily according to the following schedule:

From Tartu to Viljandi and Pärnu: 8:30, 9:30, 10:30, 12:45, 16:45, 18:30.

From Pärnu to Viljandi and Tartu: 6:30 (Monday–Friday), 7:45, 10:00 (Saturday–Sunday), 12:30, 14:30, 17:00, 19:55.

From Viljandi to Tartu: 8:00 (Monday–Friday), 9:15, 11:30 (Saturday–Sunday), 14:00, 16:00, 18:30, 21:15.

From Viljandi to Pärnu:
9:45, 10:45, 11:45, 14:00, 18:00, 19:45.

During the summer, all Lux Express departures on the Tartu–Viljandi–Pärnu route also stop at the Lottemaa Theme Park bus stop in Pärnu County, making it easy for passengers to visit the attraction by public transport. In Tartu, in addition to the central bus station, buses on this route also stop at the Maarjamõisa Hospital bus stop, allowing passengers to board or alight conveniently near the hospital.

These routes are operated with comfortable Scania Irizar coaches. This summer, Lux Express will also expand its fleet with ten brand-new coaches, replacing some of the company's older vehicles.

To meet increased demand during the summer months, Lux Express has also added extra departures on its Tallinn–Kärdla, Tallinn–Haapsalu, and Tallinn–Pärnu routes. In mid-June, the company also launched the Tartu–Viljandi–Pärnu–Kuressaare service, providing residents of Southern Estonia, the Mulgimaa region, and Pärnu with a convenient connection to the islands of Saaremaa and Muhu. When planning the timetable, Lux Express also took Latvian visitors into account by offering convenient connections between its Riga–Pärnu service and buses to Saaremaa in both directions.

According to Ingmar Roos, supporting tourism and adapting the route network to meet seasonal travel demand has always been one of the company's key priorities during the summer. "Travelling between cities by coach is often more convenient than driving. One of the most practical ways to explore Estonia's summer resort towns is to bring your bicycle on board and enjoy the journey at your own pace," added Roos.

Lux Express uses dynamic pricing, meaning that tickets purchased earlier are generally available at lower prices. Tickets can also be purchased via tpilet.ee, at selected bus stations, or directly from the driver if seats are available. Tickets can be purchased up to 90 days in advance.
