Guide to traveling by bus with skis and snowboards

Can I bring skis and a snowboard on a bus trip?

Skis and snowboards are considered oversized luggage. We will do our best to place them safely in the luggage compartment if there is enough space available. The availability of space in the luggage compartment can only be confirmed directly at the bus before departure. The driver will make the final decision on whether and where the equipment can be placed in the luggage compartment.

How to pack your equipment

Skis

  • The best option is to use a ski bag.

  • If you do not have a bag:

    1. Secure the skis together using straps or clips.

    2. Cover the skis to prevent scratches.

Snowboard

  • We recommend using a snowboard bag.
  • If packing it in a bag is not possible, cover the edges to prevent scratches.

Please make sure the equipment is not loose and can be placed safely in the luggage compartment.

Handing over luggage at the bus

When arriving at the bus, please inform the driver immediately if you are traveling with skis or a snowboard. This allows the driver to assess the available space in the luggage compartment and determine the best way to place the equipment. Please also let the driver know at which stop you will be getting off.

During peak seasons, luggage compartments may be more crowded than usual. If there is not enough space available, unfortunately skis or snowboards may not be able to be taken on board.

Liability

  • Winter sports equipment travels as regular luggage and at the passenger’s own responsibility.
  • Unfortunately, we are not able to compensate for damage caused by insufficiently packed equipment or by equipment moving in the luggage compartment during the journey.

Tips for a More Comfortable Trip

  • Arrive at the bus about 15 minutes early. This allows enough time to hand over your luggage and arrange its placement with the driver calmly.
  • If you are traveling with larger equipment, it may be helpful to choose a less popular departure time, when there are likely fewer passengers and less luggage.

  • Pack your equipment securely, preferably in a bag or fastened with straps, so it can be placed more easily and safely in the bus luggage compartment.
