Traveling with a bike

Travel with Your Bicycle

A bicycle gives you more freedom to explore your destination. On many Lux Express routes, you can conveniently bring your bike along, making it easy to discover more and travel at your own pace.

Good to Know

  • If you reserve a bicycle space in advance through the Lux Express website or mobile app together with your passenger ticket, your bicycle travels free of charge.
  • If you haven't reserved a bicycle space in advance, you can purchase a bicycle ticket from the driver for €3, subject to availability. Bicycles can only be accepted if there is a free bicycle space on board.

Bicycle Requirements

The maximum dimensions and weight for a bicycle (including e-bikes) are:

  • Height: 80 cm
  • Length: 255 cm
  • Maximum weight: 17 kg

Booking and Placement

  • You can reserve a bicycle space when purchasing your passenger ticket on the Lux Express website or in the mobile app.
  • To reserve a bicycle space, select "Reserve a free ticket for bicycle transport" under Additional Services during the booking process.
  • Before making the payment, check that the departure date and route are correct.
  • After the purchase, your ticket will be sent to your email together with confirmation that your bicycle space has been reserved.
  • Please arrive at the bus at least 15 minutes before departure.
  • A bicycle ticket can only be refunded together with the passenger ticket.
  • If you change your passenger ticket, the bicycle ticket will be transferred to the new ticket.
  • A bicycle ticket cannot be cancelled separately from the passenger ticket or added to an existing passenger ticket at a later time.

Route-Specific Information
Domestic Routes in Estonia and Latvia, and International Routes within the European Union

  • The bicycle is placed in the bus luggage compartment.
  • To protect both the bicycle and other luggage, the bicycle is packed into a special bag provided on the bus.
  • In most cases, you do not need to remove the front wheel, but if necessary, it must be detached.
  • If required, be prepared to:
    • turn the handlebars,
    • lower the saddle,
    • remove the basket and bicycle panniers.
  • Bicycle bags are available on every bus.
  • The passenger is responsible for ensuring that the bicycle is properly packed.
  • A bicycle ticket can only be reserved in advance for travel within the European Union.
  • The number of bicycle spaces is limited:
    • Domestic routes in Estonia: up to 3 bicycle spaces
    • Domestic routes in Latvia: up to 4 bicycle spaces
    • International routes: up to 2 bicycle spaces

Tallinn–Tartu Route
(on Lux Express Superior buses)

  • Bicycles can only be transported between the route's starting point and final destination.
  • Travelling with a bicycle to or from intermediate stops is not possible.
  • The bicycle is placed on the bicycle rack at the rear of the bus.
  • Up to 3 bicycle spaces can be reserved per departure.
  • The bicycle is not covered and is exposed to weather conditions.

You can board the bus with a bicycle at the following stops:

D-terminal, Fra Mare, Haapsalu Bus Station, Heltermaa, Iisaku, Jõhvi Bus Station, Kaitseväe (Võru), Kanepi, Kilingi-Nõmme, Kose-Risti 2, Kuivastu (port area), Kuressaare Bus Station, Käina, Kärdla, Liiva, Mustvee, Narva Bus Station, Otepää, Paide Bus Station, Põlva Bus Station, Pärnu Bus Station, Rakvere Bus Station, Rohuküla Port, Sillamäe Bus Station, Suuremõisa, Taebla, Tallinn Bus Station, Tartu Bus Station, Tindimäe Park & Ride, Valga Bus Station, Viljandi Bus Station, Võru Bus Station.

Domestic Routes in Latvia

Safe bicycle loading and unloading is possible only within the bus station premises at the following stops:

Riga Bus Station, Saldus Bus Station, Skrunda Bus Station, Liepāja Bus Station, Pļaviņas, Jēkabpils Bus Station, Līvāni, Daugavpils Bus Station.

Baltic States – Warsaw Route

You can travel with a bicycle from all stops except Warsaw City Centre Bus Stop 04.

Electric Scooters

  • On international routes, a bicycle ticket must also be reserved for an electric scooter.
  • This is not required on domestic routes within Estonia and Latvia.
  • Before travelling, make sure the battery is not damaged.
  • The vehicle must be switched off before it is placed on the bus.
  • If the vehicle is muddy or dirty, clean it before placing it on the bus.

Non-EU Routes

  • On the Tallinn–St. Petersburg and Riga–St. Petersburg routes, bicycles can only be transported if there is sufficient space available in the luggage compartment.
  • The bus driver will decide whether the bicycle can be loaded immediately before departure.
  • The front wheel must be removed from the bicycle.
  • The bicycle and the front wheel must be packed separately.
  • The packed bicycle must not have any sharp protruding parts.
  • If the bicycle cannot be loaded onto the bus, please contact Lux Express Customer Service. Your unused ticket will be refunded.
