Saldus fulfills
Saldus takes pride in its bustling activity and hospitality, welcoming guests with delicacies and filling their hearts with impressions from their experiences in this town in Courland.
As mentioned in the poem "About What Comes Out" by Māris Čaklais, a native of Saldus, the town center still features a church and a market square, although the city itself has grown significantly. Saldus can be explored as the city of Janis Rozentāls—by walking through the favorite painting spots of the famous Latvian painter and visiting the museum dedicated to him, the church he painted, and the bronze sculptures of the characters from his painting "After Church Service."
"Saldus Sun" also resides here—this song created by Māris Čaklais and Ēriks Ķiģelis is the anthem of the Saldus region. Its name is borne by the oldest and most tradition-rich outdoor rock music festival, and its rise and set are best observed from a viewpoint on a hill near the large "Saldus" sign.
