Paide - The heart of Estonia
A place of historical glory, where looking at the lower city refreshes the soul and rests the eyes.
In Paide, the heart of Estonia, arguably the most worthy attraction is the Vallimäe wall tower. The central square of Paide is the heart of city life, which, together with the historic street network of the old town, Paide town hall and Paide Church of the Holy Cross, are the most unique architectural examples by nature in Estonia.
The streets of Paide and the Vallimägi are decorated with hundreds of limestone sculptures, which were made during limestone days “Paepäevad” that once took place in Paide. In 2017-2018, the city of Paide received historical murals on the buildings, which are dedicated to the centenary of the Republic of Estonia. Composer Arvo Pärt was also born in Paide.
