Otepää

Sporty and adventurous Otepää awaits summer visitors.

Otepää in heart even in summer

Life is bustling here at any time of the year!

Known as the cradle of the Estonian flag, Otepää is the place where the first blue, black and white flag was blessed on June 4, 1884, at the Otepää church manor as the flag of the Estonian Students’ Society. Every year, Estonian Flag Day is celebrated here with a parade, church service and concert.

Sporty Otepää offers activities all year round. In winter, the town holds the title of Estonia’s winter capital, while in summer its hilly forest trails and lakes attract hikers, anglers and beach lovers alike.

Sunny days can be enjoyed by Lake Pühajärv, where visitors can find a well maintained beach, swimming piers, water attractions and playgrounds.

Be sure to explore the hiking trails of Otepää Nature Park and enjoy the views from the Tehvandi and Harimäe observation towers. After an active day, relax in a traditional smoke sauna at one of the local tourism farms.
