Jēkabpils, endowed with legend

A city where historical charm, cultural heritage and architecture meet on the banks of the Daugava.

Jēkabpils

The historical centers of the city on both banks of the Daugava stand out with their ancient street network and important buildings.

City includes the only men's monastery in Latvia and the former Miertiesa building built in the eclectic style, which is now the county council. Jēkabpils is rich in architectural heritage, from the former county school built in 1820 to carefully constructed red clay brick buildings with luxurious facade decorations.

As a crossroads of cultures through the centuries, Jēkabpils proudly displays its diverse cultural heritage, which can be seen in the domes of the Orthodox Church of the Holy Spirit and traditional wooden houses, which reflect the skill of Old Believer carpenters and the traditions from Latgale.
